In case you missed it, Hillary Clinton apparently misspoke (read: lied) about a trip to Bosnia in 1996 where upon debarking from the plane she had to dodge sniper fire that cleared the tarmac. Video from CBS has recently shown the New York Senator casually walking across the tarmac with her daughter Chelsea and greeting a child (although this video is far more entertaining).
Except no one seems to be covering this. It’s not on CNN’s homepage. It’s not on the NY Times homepage. The Chicago Sun Times led their print edition with an article about Hillary’s purposeful response to change the subject away from her lie and comment rather on Rev. Wright’s disparaging comments. There’s more to do with with her pithy remark about Rev. Wright than about the fact that she just LIED!!!! HELLO?!?!
At least the Washington Post, somewhere deep in their website, covered this story. They awarded Senator Clinton a score of Four Pinocchios, their highest rating.
Okay, this wasn’t like she just kinda “misspoke.” She specifically recalls being in the C-17, landing under evasive maneuvers, being moved into the cockpit, having no greeting ceremony, and being told to “run to [her] car.”
Misspoke would be saying she landed under evasive maneuvers when in reality it was just a bumpy landing. Lying is exaggerating the whole story and fabricating key parts of the story to advance the pseudo notion that you have foreign policy experience when all you really did was act as a symbolic face for the United States. She lies. Her husband lies (remember the Monica Lewinsky thing). This has been going on forever.
At the end of the day, if you’re a Democrat, you’re probably going to choose between Obama and Clinton based on personal characteristics, not policy. Their policies are pretty nearly the same. The differences are miniscule. But the characteristics outside of policy are not. I understand the counterpoint to the Clinton lie about Bosnia is Obama’s connection to Rev. Wright. But Senator Obama has categorically denounced Jeremiah Wright’s comments, and let’s face it, Mr. Obama wasn’t making the disparaging comments. Mrs. Clinton, on the other hand, was the one lying. The more appropriate comparison for the Clinton supporters would be to bring up Mr. Obama’s connection to Chicago sleezball Tony Rezko. At least then you could compare about misrepresenting a situation.

It’s these types of under-handed and dishonest tactics that have made politics the dirty game it has become. Obama has been the only worthy candidate in this election based only on his ‘clean campaign’. Despite Hillary saying we can ‘choose our preachers’, we all know that none of us has a clue what our preacher will say until after the sunday mass has ended. How is the Rev. Wright comments even newsworthy. White reverends have said the same ish years prior and not been on tv more than thirty minutes. It’s a shame that people are focusing on things that don’t mean ‘nothing to nathan’rather than character and political beliefs. I’ll tell you the the truth, this election for me will be decided on lack of craziness, communication skills, and honesty. It is a time for CHANGE! Across the board kind of change.
